Teori is a company based in Kurashiki, Okayama that focuses on the manufacture of bamboo kitchen & home decor items. After starting its business in 1989, it has been very successful in creating well designed products, which has resulted in the company receiving numerous awards domestically (e.g., Good Design Award) and being recognized internationally, including at Maison et Objet, a professional trade fair dedicated to lifestyle, decoration and design held in Paris.

Most importantly, Teori always relies on manual labor during the final phase of the manufacturing process. For example, each bamboo bowl's surface is polished manually for 20-30 minutes so as to ensure the smoothest texture possible.


Teori is meticulous with measurement, especially for the parts that will be combined with others. This requires a great amount of skill because bamboo is a natural material, and each piece of bamboo's qualities must be taken into account.
