  7. Monju Bosatsu (Manjushri) (文殊菩薩) (TanaCocoro) |
    $226.29

    Description:

Monju Bosatsu (文殊菩薩) (TanaCocoro) from Isumu. Hyper-realistic Japanese Buddhist statue perfect for interior decoration.

      • The original statue is the standing statue of Manjushri that is believed to made by the renowned Buddhist image maker Zen'en, who lived during the Kamakura period. The intelligent looking eyes contrasted with the round cheeks and adorable lips are evocative of that style. The hair features detailed curved lines that are beautifully carved and come together to make up the Gokei hairstyle
      • This Isumu statue was crafted with fine attention to detail. Its balance is shifted slightly to the right foot, creating a subtle and beautiful curve of the lower back. The rippling folds of fabric have been carefully reproduced one by one.
      • As illustrated by the saying, "If three people come together, they will have the wisdom of Manjushri", the bodhisattva Manjushri commands the wisdom necessary for enlightenment. This wisdom is not simply knowledge, but also the ability to discern the true nature of the world, and to understand the fundamental teachings of Buddhism. He flanks the left hand side of Shakyamuni, and when joined with Samantabhadra, who rules action from the right hand side, complete enlightenment is revealed. The childlike appearance signifies the total absence of impurity and attachment in the wisdom of Manjushri. The hairstyle arranged into five parts is known as Gokei, and signifies that the statue was created with wishes for respect, affection, and good health in accordance with esoteric Buddhist teachings.

    Brand

Isumu is a Japanese brand created by MORITA Inc. The brand’s focus is to recreate in our modern lives the traditional Buddhist statues which the Japanese culture has cherished so much. The brand logo “イSム” is a combination of the Japanese kanji character “仏” and the English word “Spirit,” which represents the brand’s goal to adopt the spirit of Buddhism into our modern lives.

    How the Statues Are Made

Isumu’s Buddhist statues are made from polystone, a material that combines lime and synthetic resin. It is perfect for Isumu’s statues, because the material allows the statues to present a solid look and delicate expression. The mixture rate of lime and synthetic resin is optimized for every statue part in order to ensure the durability of the statue is maximized.

Great craftsmanship and technique are behind the creation of Isumu’s Buddhist statues:

    • Prototype: This a critical process that determines the very quality of the statues. The original model is created over a period of 2-5 months with intricate calculations and expertise in order to follow the design of the real statue as much as possible.
    • Pieces Creation: Silicon is used during the process of creating the statue pieces. A high level of skill is required in this process of manual labor due to the delicate nature of silicon.
    • Polishing and Putting Together the Pieces: Each statue piece is polished with extreme care. The pieces are then put together in a pre-calculated and pre-decided sequence, which ensures that the overall appearance of the statue is consistently of high quality.
    • Coloring: This process requires a large amount of elaborate work. A great variety of materials, from pigments to gold leaves, are used to reproduce the history of the statue. Even among Isumu’s highly skilled craftsmen, only one is allowed to perform the task of coloring the eyes.

    • BRAND

Isumu is a Japanese brand created by MORITA Inc. The brand’s focus is to recreate in our modern lives the traditional Buddhist statues which the Japanese culture has cherished so much. The brand logo “イSム” is a combination of the Japanese kanji character “仏” and the English word “Spirit,” which represents the brand’s goal to adopt the spirit of Buddhism into our modern lives. The company associated with the eBay account "ninjayacom" is the official international distributor of Isumu's products.
    • HOW THE STATUES ARE MADE
